Modify the type of a custom field

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to change the type of a custom field. If your information is not in the correct field, you will need to create a new field and then transfer the data to it.

Here’s how:

  1. Create a new custom field with the correct field type. Learn how >
     
  2. Export the contacts that hold information that must be transferred to a new field. Learn how >
     
  3. Prepare your import file from the exported file. Keep only the Email column and the column with the information to be transferred.
     
  4. Import your file and link the column with information to transfer to the new field created. Make sure to answer Yes to the question about updating existing contacts. Learn how >
     
  5. Delete the custom field that is now useless. Learn how >
